My research spans the boundary between computational systems and fundamental questions in biology, medicine, and philosophy. I believe these domains illuminate each other — that the formal structures underlying evolutionary dynamics appear also in information theory, and that questions about quantum measurement are not as distant from questions about mind as they first appear.
